Bergen Women’s Basketball Edges Out Lehigh Carbon in Nail-Biter, 59–58
Schnecksville, PA — In a thrilling road matchup, the Bergen Community College Bulldogs women's basketball team secured a hard-fought 59–58 victory over Lehigh Carbon Community College on Saturday afternoon.
Bergen demonstrated resilience and teamwork throughout all four quarters, overcoming a halftime deficit and making key plays down the stretch to seal the one-point win.
The Bulldogs were led by a dominating performance from Ariana Garo, who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds, along with 5 steals and 3 assists. Mary Palazzo also delivered a strong performance inside, adding 12 points and 17 rebounds, while Ashly Urquia came off the bench to spark the offense with 16 points, including three 3-pointers.
After trailing 34–30 at halftime, Bergen surged in the third quarter with a 19–13 run that flipped the momentum. Despite a tight final quarter, the Bulldogs held off a late push from Lehigh Carbon to secure the win.
The Bulldogs' defense was a major factor, forcing 17 turnovers and collecting 11 steals on the afternoon. The team also out-rebounded Lehigh Carbon 52–20, controlling the boards on both ends of the floor.
Lehigh Carbon was led by Lorelei Plasha, who scored 18 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Emily Sebastian chipped in with 15 points and 4 steals for the Cougars.
