Volleyball Sweeps Brookdale to Move to 6-1 Overall and 5-0 in GSAC
Middletown, NJ- The Bergen Community College women's volleyball team continued their impressive start with a straight-set victory (3-0) over Brookdale Community College on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Bulldogs' record to 6-1 overall and an unbeaten 5-0 in the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC), keeping them at the top of the standings.
Bergen asserted their control from the start, winning the sets 25-13, 25-19, and 25-18. The Bulldogs' well-rounded performance was marked by strong offensive play, efficient serving, and sturdy defense.
Leading the attack for Bergen was Angelina Buhler, who registered 6 kills on 17 attempts with an impressive .294 hitting percentage. Addy Matos was another key contributor, posting 6 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, while Valentina Botero added 4 kills on 9 swings, also hitting .333. The Bulldogs combined for a .189 team hitting percentage across the match.
Setter Angela Korca facilitated the offense with 12 assists and also contributed 2 service aces. On defense, libero Jenelly Jimenez anchored the team with 8 digs, while Gyanna Hernandez was active on both ends, recording 4 service aces and 5 digs.
Brookdale fought hard but was unable to keep pace with Bergen's consistent play. Brookdale's Isabella Dalatri was their standout performer with 8 kills, while Alana Pytel and Gabriella Smith added 4 kills each.
