Branchburg, NJ –The Bergen Community College men's soccer team secured a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Raritan Valley Community College on Tuesday in a closely contested Region 19 match.
Bergen took an early lead in the 15th minute when midfielder Oscar Gomez found the back of the net with a perfectly placed direct free kick, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage. Raritan Valley responded swiftly, leveling the score in the 25th minute through a goal by Carlos Marquina, who finished off a well-executed corner kick from Adan Chaparro Vigo. Just minutes later, Raritan Valley gained the lead when Ryan Rodriguez scored in the 28th minute, assisted by Marquina, making the score 2-1 in favor of the home side.
In the second half, Bergen battled back. In the 53rd minute, Davi Martins Dos Santos equalized for the Bulldogs, finishing off an assist from Gomez to bring the game level at 2-2.
