Men's Soccer Continues Hot Start With Win Over Atlantic Cape
Paramus, NJ - The Bergen Community College Bulldogs men's soccer team delivered a commanding performance, defeating Atlantic Cape Community College 9-0 in their latest home game.
The Bulldogs scored early when William Quevedo Ferro opened the scoring in the 7th minute with an assist from Landon Frank. Oscar Gomez quickly followed up with a goal in the 13th minute, assisted by Nicholas Ortiz. The floodgates opened after Sebastian Guerra's unassisted goal in the 19th minute, with Bergen netting five goals in the first half alone.
The second half continued in the same dominant fashion. Bergen's Paolo Gatto, who had an exceptional game, scored twice, with his goals coming in the 41st and 61st minutes, both assisted by teammates Davi Martins Dos Santos and Cristian Par, respectively. Gatto's offensive pressure was evident throughout the match, leading the team with seven shots, five on target.
In total, the Bulldogs recorded 35 shots, 18 of which were on goal, showing their relentless attack and keeping Atlantic Cape's defense on their heels. The match was a comprehensive team effort, with contributions from multiple players, including Daniel D'Urso, who found the back of the net in the 59th minute, and Oscar Stephenson, who capped the scoring in the 66th minute with an unassisted strike.
Bergen's defense, led by goalkeeper Gabriel Felipe Solano, was equally impressive. Solano, along with substitute goalkeeper Rigo Hernandez, ensured a clean sheet for the Bulldogs, facing only two shots on goal the entire match and making one save.
"We played with great intensity and focus today," said Bergen's head coach. "The team executed our game plan perfectly, and it's encouraging to see the chemistry building on both ends of the pitch."
This win takes Bergen Community College's men's soccer team to a strong position in their season. The Bulldogs will look to carry this momentum into their next game when they travel to Atlantic Cape on Tuesday.
