Paramus, NJ- Bergen Bulldogs have ended their losing streak after defeating Sussex Skylanders. Bergen won the game 4-3 after a tremendous come from behind win.
Sussex is second in the standings and they took a quick 2-0 lead in the first half. Bergen scored their first goal after Andre Sajnoski passed the ball to Sulaiman Sesay, who put it in the back of the net for a 2-1 Sussex lead. Sussex answered back with another score to make it 3-1 going into half time. Coach Soto rallied the team and had the Bulldogs ready to make a comeback. Bergen had earned a corner kick in the 50th minute. Dave Herrea was chosen to take the kick, which was received by Danylo Vasyliev, who put a header on it and scored to make it 3-2. After 15 minutes, Bergen received another scoring opportunity with a hand ball in the box. Dave Herrera was again chosen to take the kick and scored the penalty kick to tie the game and gave the Bergen Bulldogs more momentum. Bergen continued to pressure Sussex and in the 76th minute had two amazing and well calculated passes across the field, which ended up in Jorge Salas's feet, which he took advantage of it, by crossing the ball to Bergen's leading scorer Cristiano Neves. Cristiano took the ball and created space to score the game winning goal. Sussex battled back and forced several corner and free kicks, but Bergen's goalie Joseph Sanchez-Castro denied them, especially on the last corner kick with a minute left. Joseph leaped up and punched the ball away and sealed the win for the Bulldogs.
Bergen will now host Cumberland County College on Saturday, October 14.
