Wye Mills, MD- The Bergen baseball team swept the Skipjacks of Chesapeake Sunday afternoon @Skipjacks Boatyard Field. The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 on the season, while the Griffins moved to 2-4.
Game One: Bergen 4, Chesapeake 2
- The Skipjacks jumped out to an early lead scoring in the bottom of the first inning
- Bergen would jump ahead in the top of the second scoring 3 runs
- The Bulldogs would score an additional run in the fifth
- Chesapeake would score once more in the bottom of the sixth but that would be all
- Jamie Young would go 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 7, all while collecting his first win of the season.
- Evan Peterson tossed 2 innings, giving up 1 run on 1 hit. Walking two and striking out two
- Daniel Ramos went 2-for-3 with a double
Game Two: Bergen 14, Chesapeake 10
- Game two was an old-fashioned slugfest that started in the third inning
- Bergen scored once in the first and second innings and would bat around in the third scoring 8 runs
- Chesapeake would score 2 in the third and batted around in the 5th scoring 6 runs
- Bergen would respond scoring, once in each of the sixth and seventh innings
- Jason Demarco went 4 innings giving up 3 runs, 2 earned on 4 hits while striking out 8
- Ransley Ferreras with 2-for-3 driving in a run and scoring one
