Softball Splits Double Header
Bergen Splits Double Header versus Sussex. Two tight games that went to the wire. 6-5 and 11-10.
Paramus, NJ - Bergen Softball continues to have a successful season by splitting the double header against region rival Sussex CCC. Bergen lost the first game 6-5 and left the bases loaded in the final inning. Bergen came back where they started and battled Sussex Skylanders into extra innings and won 11-10 in 8 innings.
First game - Bergen lost a hard fought game which ended with the bases loaded. Madison Heck pitched a complete game with 5 K's. Offensively the team was led by Nicole Salvatore, who went 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Hannah Christensen and Madison Kolich contributed with two hits each. Tatiana Fermaint had two big RBIs.
Second game- This was a slug fest for both teams. Madison Heck again pitched a complete game for the Bulldogs of Bergen. Offensively Bergen continued where they left off from the first game. Hannah Christensen went 2-4 with a game tying three run homerun in the first inning. Tatiana Fermaint tied the game in the extra innings and finished the game going 3-5 with two runs scored. Madison Kolich went 3-5 with a double and two runs scored. The big hit came from Melinda Ogando, who went 2-5 with 2 RBI, but the second RBI was the game winner. Melinda hit a line drive that drove in Skylar Hanley in walk off fashion. The game finished with a bad throw to third and led to a bang bang play at the plate, which led to Skylar sliding in safe to end the game.
Bergen will now travel to Luzerne on Wednesday, April 24. Go Bulldogs!!!
