Baseball Comeback Falls Short Against Cumberland

PARAMUS,NJ- The Bergen baseball team dropped its series finale, 13-16, against the Dukes of RCSJ-Cumberland Monday evening at Breslinl Field. The Lions move to 2-3 on the season, and 0-3 in Region 19 play.
How it Happened
- The Dukes scored nine runs in the top of the first inning, on 1 hit, 1 error , 2 hit by pitches and 7 walks.
- Bergen used three pitchers in the first inning
- Bergen would respond with 2 runs in the bottom of the first. After a walk a single and a passed ball
- After Cumberland scored a run in the top of the fifth 2nd and 3rd, to go ahead, 2-11, the Bulldogs would answer in the bottom of the 3rd with 3 runs. Steven Peralta would lead off the inning with a single, Danny Ramos followed with a walk and Mike Quinn would single in Peralta, Ramos would score on a throwing error. Bergen would finish the inning with a sacrifice by Carlos Pascul.
- The Bulldogs would roar back in the 5th inning scoring 7 runs to take a 12-11 lead. Scoring on 4 hits, and 1 error.
- The lead wouldnt last for long as the Dukes would score 2 runs in the top of the 6th.
- Bergen would respond once again in the bottom half of the 6th scoring 1 run as Edgar Ortiz drove in Paul Figureoa on a fielder's choice.
- Once again Cumberland would rally this time for good scoring three runs in the top of the 7th. They scored the three runs on no hits, while Bergen gave up 3 walks and hit a batter.
