Bergen in NJCAA Rankings
After Bergen Baseball completed a sweep of Luzerne on Sunday. The Bulldogs were ranked #4 in the latest NJCAA poll.
Paramus, NJ - The Bulldogs continue to roll after sweeping region opponent Luzerne CC by the scores of 16-7 and 12-2. Bergen now has a record of 11-3 overall and a 5-2 record in the region. The recap of both games versus Luzerne are below:
First game - Bergen wins 16-7 - Cristian Garcia earned the win pitching 4 innings allowing 2 hits and no runs. He also struck out 3 batters on the day. Joseph Matos and Justin Grippo came in to relieve him. Offensively, Ardiran Alarcon had a big day going 3-4 with a double, a grand slam and 5 RBI. Kelvin Cruz had a perfect game going 3-3 with 3 runs scored, 2 runs and a triple. Mikal Trice went 2-3 with triple and two RBI. Jonnathan Cepeda and Evan Geisler also had two hits and two RBI each.
Second Game - Bergen wins 12-2 - Trey Fracassini earned his first college win after pitching 5 inning allowing no earned runs, 4 hits, 2 BB and striking out 4 batters. Cristian Cefalo closed it out going 2 innings with 6 stirkeouts and no runs earned. Adrian Alarcon continued his hot hitting going 2 for 2 including a monstrous two run home run and two stolen bases. Jonnathan Cepeda also continued to slug the ball going 2-2 with 2 runs, 3 RBI and a double. Kelvin Cruz added to his big day at the plate going 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Sophomore, Nickolas Balitsos, went 2-3 with a double, 2 runs and a RBI.
