Doubleheader Versus Raritan Valley CC
Bergen splits doubleheader versus Raritan Valley on Monday, May 1st.
Paramus, NJ - Bergen wins their 17th game of the year after defeating Raritan Valley CC by the score of 12-2, but they lose the second half of the doubleheader 7-6.
Bergen's Jose Sierra (4-1) picks up his 4th win of the year by pitching complete game, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out 9.
Bergen's offense was led by Sway Russell who went 2-4 with a double, stolen base, 2 RBI and a Run. Julio Acosta went 2-4 with 2 RBI, 2 runs and stolen base. John Calabrese and Jose Polanco both scored twice for the Bulldogs. Joseph Baez had a big day at the plate going 1-4 with 4 RB. Joseph Mitchell had a double with two runs and a RBI.
The second game of the doubleheader had the lead change a couple times. Bergen started out by scoring 3 runs in the first and RVCC answered back in the fifth inning by scoring 5 runs and pushing ahead 6-3. Bergen scored two in the bottom of the inning and had to play catch up the rest of the way. RVCC ended up winning the game 7-6.
Adam Hebel pitched well and kept the game within reach. Adam pitched 3 innings and allowing 1 run on 5 hits. Stephen Fedak did the same and pitched 1.2 innings of shutout ball. Bergen bats were a run short though the bullpen kept them in the game. Third baseman, John Calabrese, went 2-4 with 2 RBI, a run and 2 crushing doubles. Sway Russell continued his solid season going 1-2 with 2 BB, 2 stolen bases, a run and RBI. Bergen stole 10 bases in the second game.
Bulldogs will take on Montgomery CC on Wednesday, May 3rd for a doubleheader.
