BERGEN VS. ATLANTIC CAPE THREE GAME SERIES
Bergen Bulldogs sweep Atlantic Cape County College 3-0.
Paramus, NJ - Bergen Community College continue to play their conference schedule versus Atlantic Cape County College. Bergen stepped up after their recent skid by sweeping 3-0 versus Buccaneers. The series win puts the team back on track.
The first game of the series was 18-8 win for the Bulldogs. Christopher Martucci (3-3) took the mound and pitched 5.2 innings, allowing 13 H, 8 Runs, 8ER and 9K. Javier Made finished the game by pitching 2.1 innings of shutout ball and 4 strikeouts Julio Acosta went 3-5 with a double, 3 runs, RBI and 2 stolen bases. Sway Russell went 3-4 with 2 doubles, 2 stolen bases, 4 runs, 2BB and 2 RBI. Sophomore third baseman, John Calabrese, went 2-5 with 3 run scored, 3 RBI, double and a stolen base. Joseph Baez went 2-3 with 2 BB, 3 runs, 2 stolen bases and RBI. Joseph Mitchell starting to be a big part of the offense goin 3-4 with a double, 3 RBI, stolen base, and a run. Justin Grippo went 2-6 with a run, 2 RBI and a stolen base.
Second game of the series, Bergen offense continued where it left off by win 8-1. Brayan Rodriguez (2-3) pitched a complete game and pitched 7 innings on 1 run ball. Brayan allowed 7 hits, 1 earned run and 8 strikeouts. Julio Acosta continued to hit Atlantic Cape by going 2-3 with 2 runs and a stolen base. Joseph Baez was perfect on the day by going 2-2 with 2 runs and a stolen base. Sway Russell went 2-3 with one run, a stolen base and 4 RBI. Joseph Mitchell went 2-3 with a double, a RBI and a run scored.
Third game and final game of the series, Bergen defeated the Buccaneers 8-4. Wander Jimenez started the game, but left early in the second inning. Josue Ruiz relieved Wander for his first appearance of the year. Ruiz's performance was stellar and a big shot in the arm for the Bulldogs. He pitched 4.1 innings of shutout ball and 5 strikeouts for the win.
Bergen will host Raritan Valley CC on Monday, May1st.
