BERGEN VS. OCEAN THREE GAME SERIES
Bergen Bulldogs lose three game series to Ocean County College 1-2.
Paramus, NJ - Bergen Community College continued to play their conference schedule versus Ocean County College. The three game series would begin at Bergen for one game and a double header at Ocean the following day.
First game of the series saw sophomore, Brayan Rodriguez (1-3) take the mound. Brayan who has pitched well all season, continued to do so against Ocean bats. He Pitched 7.1 innings, allowing 11 H, 4 Runs, 4 ER, 6K and 4 BB. Brayan had a lot of offensive support from his teammates. Bergen offense was led by Jose Polanco who went 2-3 with a Double, 3 Runs, 2 RBI, 2 stolen bases and 2 BB. Joseph Baez had a 2-4 day with 2 Runs, 3 RBI, stolen base and a BB. Sway Russell and Justin Grippo both had two hits and 2 RBI. Julius Puryear had a 2-4 day with a double off the wall in center and 2 runs scored.
Second game of the series was a pitcher duel going to be a comeback from the first game. Freshman, Wander Jimenez (3-4), had a great start holding Ocean to two runs in 6 innings. A great effort by Wander, but Bergen bats were cold in the first game. Sway Russell drove in the only run of the game for Bergen and went 2-3.
Third game and final game of the series at Ocean was not any better for the Bulldogs. Bergen's Jose Sierra started the game and pitched 3.1 innings allowing 4 earned runs. Christian Guzman came in and suffered his first loss of the season allowing 2 runs in .2 innings. Bergen's bullpen continued to struggle giving up 3 runs the rest of the way. Sway Russell continued his hot hitting going 2-3 with 3 RBI. Christopher Martucci and Joseph Baez had two hits apiece.
Bergen looks to bounce back as they start another three game set tomorrow at Atlantic Cape CC (Surf Stadium) at 3pm. They will then finish the series at home on Saturday, April 29th for a double header starting at 12pm.
