BERGEN VS. UNION THREE GAME SERIES
Bergen wins series of Union Owls 2-1.
Paramus, NJ - Bergen Community College continue to play their conference schedule versus Union County College. Bergen stepped up after their recent skid by winning two games out of three versus Union Owls. The series win puts the back on track in the standings.
The first game of the series, Wander Jimenez (3-3) took the mound and pitched a complete game, allowing 7 H, 4 Runs, 2 ER and 5 K. Julio Acosta was a tough out and went 1-1 with 2 walks and 2 stolen bases. Sway Russell went 2-3 with 2 runs and one RBI. Sophomore third baseman, John Calabrese, went 2-4 with a run scored. Sophomore, Yefry Ramirez went 1-4 with 2 RBI. Chris Fernandez added to the offense by going 1-3 with 2 runs scored.
Second game of the series Bergen offense continued where it left off. Freshman, Jose Sierra (3-1), had a great start holding Union to three runs in 6.1 innings and 6K. Sophomore, Stephen Fedak, pitched the final two outs to finish the game. Julio Acosta continued to hit Union by going 3-3 with 2 runs and a stolen base. Justin Grippo also had a perfect day at the plate by going 3-3 with 2 runs and 3 RBI. Sway Russell slammed a homerun and went 2-4 with one Run and 4 RBI. Yefry Ramirez also put on a hitting display going 3-4 with a double, stolen base and a run scored. Joseph Baez also had a pair of hits and a run.
Third game and final game of the series at Union was where the Bulldogs were stopped. Bergen lost to Union 9-1.
Bergen looks to bounce back as they start another three game series versus Ocean County College.
