Justin Conca Earns NJCAA First Team All-American Honors
Justin Conca Earns NJCAA First Team All-American Honors by finishing in 4th place out of 116 runners at the 2016 NJCAA National Tournament this past Saturday, November 12th.
Paramus, NJ - Women's Cross Country finished in 6th place out of 13 teams competing at The 2016 NJCAA National Tournament Meet in Finger Lakes Community College this past Saturday, November 12th.
Freshman, Justine Conca (Nutley), made First Team All-American by finishing in fourth place out of 116 runners. Conca finished with a time of 20:27.5. She also earned The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (East Region) Women's Athlete of the Year, for winning the Region XIX Individual Title in 19:47.
Bergen's women's team needed that top runner to help them ensure a top finish at nationals after last year's 13th place finish. Justine was the student-athlete that met the challenge by winning the Division III Region XIX race and also contributing to Bergen's first region title since 1989.
Head Coach Deana Dedovitch when asked about her top runner said "Justine is a phenomenal student-athlete, who is well rounded, has been a hard worker and team player throughout the season."
