Women's Soccer Under New Leadership
New Head Coach, Mike Vivino, was hired over the summer to bring his NCAA experience to the women's soccer team.
Bergen Community College has recently hired Women's Soccer Head Coach Mike Vivino. Coach Vivino has joined the BCC Athletic Staff for 2017 and looking to improve the women's soccer team that has a lot of talent coming back from last year. Coach Vivino holds a USSF "C" License, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, and a NSCAA Match Analysis Diploma. He brings all of his soccer knowledge to the women's soccer program that looks to be a serious contender for next year's fall season.
Coach Vivino graduated from Wayne Valley HS in 2002, earned his bachelor degree from William Paterson University in 2008 and also his Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in 2018, with a focus on sport psychology and leadership skills.
He has an extensive high school and college coaching career beginning with Wayne Valley High School where he assisted Dan Kilday with two Passaic County Championships and let the JV boys to an undefeated season in his first year.
At Mountain Lakes High School he was the head girls' soccer coach for four year and led the team to a state tournament appearance in each year while developing their youth program for their local club.
He entered the college ranks when he took on the women's head soccer position at NJCU. At NJCU, he took the program from 1 win to 5 wins in three seasons while taking the program from 5 players to 18 before he decided to leave.
Park Ridge High School was his next stop as an assistant coach where the team competed in the conference and state sectional championships.
Pasco Soccer Club is a team he has been coaching for 8 years. At Pasco Soccer Club, he won numerous tournaments and helped dozens of players get recruited to play college soccer. He is currently the Director of Coaching for the girl's side.
Coach Vivino also played soccer in his youth. He played at Pasco Soccer Club for 6 years where we won NJ State Cup 1999, Cocoa Expo Tournament, Colorado International Friendly, and many others. He was their captain from 2000-2001. He also played at Wayne Valley HS and earned All-County and All-Conference honors, conference championship, and captain his senior year.
Bergen welcomes Coach Vivino's and was asked about his philosophy, he said "The game is constantly changing so coaches have to change. Getting stuck in your ways is an easy way for people to pass you by. We want our players to be technically sound while having a level of intelligence that goes with every decision they make. Every day is a new competition to be better."
The addition of Coach Mike Vivino is the missing piece to an already talented and competitive women's soccer team. Bergen is headed in the right direction and looks to open some eyes this upcoming 2017 season.
