Bulldogs Qualify For Nationals
Two Bergen wrestlers qualified for nationals after a good showing at the district tournament this past Saturday.
LACKAWANA, NY -- Exciting news for the Bergen Bulldogs today as two of their star wrestlers have qualified for the national tournament. The district tournament took place this afternoon in Lackawana, New York. Rey Miller and Corey Eyer both wrestled extremely well and will be moving on for the chance to compete for a national championship.
Miller (184) qualified by finishing 3rd in his weight class in districts. The top four in his class qualify. Eyer qualified as a wild card which is determined by a vote of the coaches. They will now have two weeks to prepare for the national tournament which will take place on March 1-2 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
This is "well deserved," said Bergen's Managing Director of Athletics Jorge Hernandez, "[Miller] wrestled his best two matches of the year".
