PARAMUS, NJ -- Bergen Bulldogs Women's Basketball defeated the Passaic Panthers Tuesday night at home 69-62. It was a good win for Bergen who played with a total of five girls and did not have any subs available on the bench. This marks the final regular season game of the year for the Bulldogs.
The game was close through the entire first half. Passaic led by a single point 21-20 at the end of the first quarter. Bergen played better in the second quarter and took a 38-34 lead into half time. The four point advantage was the largest lead for either team at that point in the game. The bulldogs came out strong after half time and dominated the third quarter. The quarter ended with Allison Bryan making a layup at the buzzer to give Bergen a 56-43 lead after three quarters. The Bulldogs never looked back after that. Passaic was able to close the deficit to five points close to the end of the game but that was as close as they would get. Bergen came away with the victory by the final score of 69-62.
Anira Calamia was the star of the game for Bergen. Calamia finished with 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals. Liana Martinez also recorded a double-double for the Bulldogs with 12 points and 13 rebounds. The bulldogs end the season with five wins in their final six games.
