BCC Bringing Holiday Cheer
Newly formed Bergen Student-Athete Advisory Committee (SAAC) works with Fair Lawn PBA local 67 to donate toys to the children of the community.
Paramus, NJ - The Bergen CC student-athletes have band up together to create a student athlete advisory committee. This is committee is made up of student-athletes from each sport to provide insight on an athlete's experiences and offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athlete's lives on campus.
In the spirit of giving this holiday season, SAAC decided to participate in a toy drive. Staying close to home they found one right here in Bergen County at the Fair Lawn PBA local 67. They hung up signs all over campus and even had a little tree with a donation box outside the gym. They also set up a table in the student center which they were able to get donations from multiple people adding up to about $370 . With that money a couple of the SAAC members went to the store to purchase toys . In total they would were able to donate about 75 TOYS!
On December 14th , the SAAC headed out the Fair lawn Police Department where they were welcomed in awe! This toy drive has been going on for the last 30 years and the Fair lawn police have been doing it for the last 13 years. They told us that this toy drive got over 7,000 toys last year but this year they tripled that. President of SAAC Rey Miller said "It was fun and great experience. It was a privilege to give back to these kids and I hope we made their Christmas a little better and they can forget about their troubles for a day."
The toys will be sent out to Sanzari Children's Hospital, New Hope, Shelter Our Sister, Valley Hospital Pediatric Center, Tomorrow's Children's Hospital, Fair Lawn CTC Academy, Children of Our Military Personnel, 508th Military Police & More . THANK YOU BERGEN COMMUNITY COLLEGE COMMUNITY FOR HELPING US!
